Our present constituion was formed by Cabinate Mission of Plan in a meeting held at 16th May,1946.
385 members participated in it,out of which 292 were nominated by elected members of Provincial Legistative States & 93 belongs to Princely States + to them 4 representative each from Delhi-Ajmer ,Coorg ,British ,Bluchistan were added.[no. of members added were in accordance of their ratio with population of state or group of state.]
Idea : Idea of making of constitution was given by M.N.Roy [a political philospher].
Advisor : B.N.Rao was advisor during making of constituion .
1st Meeting was held on 9th Dec.1949 & Dr. Sachidanand Sinha was its interim President.
2nd Meeting held on 11th Dec. 1949 & Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as its President.
It had 13 committees , out of which Drafting Committee was most important ; as it bear the responsibility to run constitution in recess of constitution assembly from July 1947 to Sept. 1948 & was made on 29th nov. 1947.
Our Constitution was finally passed & accepted on 26th Nov. 1949 but apply on 26th Jan. 1950[our Republic day].
284 Members signed our this document .
It take time period of 2 Years, 8 Monthes, 11 Days.
It has 395 Articles & 8 Schedules[12 at present].

ReplyDeleteI m extremely impressed with your writting on Indian Constitution in your blog. It is wonderful work. Please also add preamble of the constitution on your blog and also mentioned the the amendment to preamble by amendment no. 42.
It is just my suggestion. So please don't take it on other way please. Your title is Our Constitution making, so what u write is absolutely correct.
